Lurppis in, Hanes out for EG.usa
MYEG - Only days after the announcement of their acquisition of a trio of top WC3 players, EG announces their acquisition of top Finnish talent, lurppis.
In December it was announced that the then LA Complexity's CS lineup would be acquired by EG minus rambo as their new CS 1.6 lineup. After a mediocre placing in Extreme master's Finals in Cologne Germany and a subpar performance in Kode5.usa final, many speculated that there would be a roster change, in hopes for better results. Today that roster change was finalized; Tomi "Lurppis" Kovanen formerly of Crack Clan, will be replacing Corey "hanes" Hanes after ESEA playoffs are over. However they'd like to state it was not due to his lack of ability or lack of effort; As danny “fRoD” Montaner states, "I would just like to thank Corey for all the time and effort he has put into this team...Unfortunately, things just didn't work out, and we certainly wish him the best of luck."
Lurppis is known for his great skill and experience that will be of extreme value to the new EG team. "The addition of Tomi will definitely give us a great new style, and a better understanding of our own game play, as well as giving a little bit of European flavor to our team," said new teammate Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert. "His great teamwork and dedication will help us solidify a lot of things that we need to work on and fine tune if we want to compete up to our full potential."
This comes right after his announcement of retirement, which he states was because he was lacking drive but upon talking to EG's management he states that"it became clear it just wasn't time yet. I can honestly say I've never been this excited in my CS career and I can't wait to arrive in Dallas and start practicing with my new teammates, He also adds that he has “always wanted to try living abroad, so for me it really is a dream come true, being able to move out there and compete in all the tournaments with EG. I think it would be normal to have some concerns but honestly right now I'm just too excited to even think about that, I just want to get there asap!"
Finally EG's manager, Alex Garfield, would like to congratulate tomi, and compliment his abilities and achievements stating that "Tomi has been the driving force behind most of the best Finnish lineups in the past several years, and has accumulated an impressive international resume over that period. We think he'll be a great contributer to the team, not only because of his skill and work ethic, but also because of his expansive knowledge of international teams and play styles."
This is not the first time for Europeans and North American's to mix play styles; First seen with NoA which featured Shaguar and Method, of 3D fame, Complexity's 2007 lineup featured zet, currently on SK-gaming and NSU currently holds French player xp3.
The new EG.usa Lineup:
