KODE5 Reaffirms Partnership with HLTV.org, Will Continue HLTV

KODE5, HLTV.ORG - KODE5 has confimed that they will continue HLTV usage all through their current season and next season.

KODE5 is one of the largest tournaments for Counter Strike 1.6, after the announced death of ESWC last weekend.  They announced yesterday evening that they will in fact continue their HLTV pratnership with HLTV.org, unlike ESL - who have cut off all HLTV for offline events - announced only several days earlier.

"In response to questions posed by the global gaming community, KODE5 reaffirmed its media partnership with HLTV.org. Under the partnership, HLTV.org will continue to provide KODE5 Counter-Strike 1.6 event coverage via HLTV to gaming fans around the world," they said in a statement on their website.

"HLTV.org is happy that KODE5 has chosen to reaffirm their commitment to working with us in providing HLTV coverage of the KODE5 Global Finals. We firmly believe that there is plenty of room for both video streaming and HLTV, and that they serve two different purposes. We see no reason why artificial limits should be imposed; instead we firmly believe spectators should have the possibility to choose whatever they like best," said Per Lambæk, HLTV.org CTO.

Whether this will help push KODE5 over ESL is anyone's guess at this point, but fans have shown mostly support for KODE5 and usually disgust with ESL following this announcement.

I really enjoy HLTV, but I do believe we need to start moving to broadcasts as much as possible.. forcing people might not be the way to do it though
