Alright, so a couple of days ago I posted a blog (http://www.insideresports.com/article/265) and after posting the blog, I took 30 minutes to just sit and think. While writing the blog, I found out I enjoyed writing and new ideas pop-up every day. A few years ago, if you asked me what I enjoyed doing, I might have said playing competitive video games. After two 5th place finishes at local LAN events and the release of Insider eSports, I realized that I may enjoy writing more than playing. What this means for me is, I plan on finish up this season of CAL with my team and then taking a week off to decide whether or not I still want to play at a competitive level. This isn’t to say I won’t be playing games at all if I was to stop, just not competitively. I plan on buying Starcraft II when it comes out to get away from the FPS games for a bit.
In a few years, I see myself hopefully going to school somewhere in California majoring in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, working part-time, and posting blogs whenever I get a chance and dedicating some time in helping out with a gaming organization or coverage site. There are many people I would like to thank in helping me make this decision. TUG and MuRRaY for getting me interested in writing blogs, my school for providing Computer Science and Computer Engineering courses, my parents for supporting my decision of wanting to go to school in the States, and a few friends who have set my life straight. Even now when I am typing up this update, I have a saved thank you letter that I must edit and send off to someone who has made an impact on my decision.
When I started writing a couple of weeks ago, it was something I wanted to try. With each blog posted, I found myself getting better at writing. After the first two blogs, I found that every time I found something that interested me, I tried to associate it with eSports and tried to figure out how I could incorporate it into a blog. Do I regret spending the last 3 years of my life playing competitive eSports? No. Everything I did while I was playing competitive eSports has benefitted me when writing blogs. I find that it is getting harder to balance school, competitive sports, blog writing, and eSports. It is easier to just follow eSports than it is to be competing in it.
With my decision to go to school in the States, I am going to need some form of money to pay for everything. I plan on getting a job working part-time and saving up starting in the summer. I’ve also decided that I am going to stop playing competitive sports because it is not how I plan on making money from in the future. I enjoy playing sports, but I was never a great player. Instead, I have decided to focus on my schooling and to work towards my goal of being accepted into a few schools I have in mind in California.
I will not lie; Disney has influenced my life a lot. I grew up with Disney and I learned a lot from watching Disney movies. One of the things I believe in strongly besides the quotes found on my WordPress page is: one can never be too old for Disney, nor can one be too old for video games. With this, I leave you with a quote by Walt Disney.
“When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.” (Walt Disney)
