North Americup Opens

INSIDER ESPORTS – North Americup opens their doors for CoD fans.  The only difference is… CoD2?

The debate concerning the future of the Call of Duty community isn’t over yet! A lot of people have been voting on the www.codfuture.com website in the last days, most of them being European votes. Although the North American community continued with the CoD4 adventure, it seems like the Euros aren’t as enjoyed as we are toward this game and they still want to bring back the WSVG’s CoD title: Call of Duty 2.

Even with the majority of the community agreeing on CoD4 as their esport CoD title, some of the most experienced players in the community still like CoD2 better, where most of them weren’t even interested to test the first Modern Warfare title.

This is where the NorthAmericup has been brought to life by a majority of the Lostprophets (LP) club’s players. I had the opportunity to talk with one of the staff member Tom Hogan (HeroLP) concerning the goals and expectations for the upcoming tournament.

“NACup was an idea founded on the thought that CoD2 deserved to have a chance. It stems from a group of players who wanted to bring about a league where people could come and enjoy themselves while competing with some of the best the game has to offer. Cash prizes were an added bonus.”

Also, Justin Morrison (jmorLP) stated, “We're looking to run an organized and successful tournament from the get go. The staff has a lot of experience as both players and COD community leaders. As long as we get full support through participating teams I assure you we will produce an exciting and reinvigorating experience delving back into Call of Duty 2.”

This new tournament is a Survival of the Fittest (SOTF) tournament which will hopefully bring the aces of CoD2 back to their amazing days like Prank, Credible and more. No prizes were announced yet, but we’ve been told that this was being worked. Free inscription, a good game; what more is needed?

For more details on the tournament, you can pm any operators in the #NA-Cup channel.

I am just making some links between CoD and whatever I can link it to, this time it was codfuture even if I know this website trully isn't a reference for most of us.

Hopefully that can revive the cod2 Competition.

While this is definitely a good idea, this will cause further division in the CoD community and ultimately hurt us as a whole. The community as a whole needs to stick by one game.

Agreed. We cant just say we are going to play COD4 until MW:2 comes out.. try that out.. then if it sucks go back to COD4, or if its good switch to it. Stick with something.

So true. People should say cod4 will stay. Don't look for any other game to take it over. CoD1 is long dead, we all know that. CoD2 is people living in the past. The game is riddled with bugs and everyone wanted to get away from it FAST. CoD4 started out massively, dragging teams from all over to it. It has the potential to be great, and is very close to achieving that potential. For future CoD's people shouldn't even think about moving to them, stick with what is working. After it is tested and it is an amazing game, then people should work on getting everything done before the community switches. The hopping on the next game mentality must stop or cod has no future, at all.

What bugs are you talking about in CoD2? The only glitch known is VLL, which is easy to spot and force a round turnover. It seems you're having trouble seeing over your inflated ego, so I'll give you a little insight: CoD2 died because CoD4 came out, and the community hoped that it would expound upon the success that was CoD2. The community did not leave because it was "riddled with (nonexistent) bugs." I'm utterly disgusted that you attempted to put down CoD2. For fucks sake, you weren't even in the CoD community for CoD2.

A lot of the people playing CoD2 now aren't playing CoD4, and a lot of people play video games for fun. It's video games, CoD4 will be fine running simultaneously with this tournament regardless of insight into keeping the community unified.
