Insider eSports sits down with Forever0
*Note* This interview was recorded a few weeks after CGS closed its doors.
IE Krunk: As we all know CGS has been officially marked dead, how will this impact the Counter Strike: Source community or will this be the unofficial "death" of CS:S as we know it?
Forever0: Too early to tell if this is the death of source. I believe it to be not it’s the death, but that's just my personal opinion.
IE Krunk: With the CGS dead, how will this impact you?
Forever0: Wont impact me much, I always wanted to make it into the CGS but now that it’s gone it’s not like my life is just suddenly going to stop.
IE Krunk: A lot of people are now switching back to 1.6, or quitting CS: S. What will you plan on doing?
Forever0: As of right now I’m not sure what I’m going to do. Just going to lay low until next season comes along and that’s when the old rules come back.
IE Krunk: With the CPL's new events just around the corner, how do you think their decision on what games (1.6 and/or Source) to include will play out in the community?
Forever0: Well I’m going to be biased and say I hope they pick source but they will probably pick 1.6 since they will probably get a lot more teams to show up.
IE Krunk: Also, with CGS gone, how will this affect the lan scene for source?
Forever0: Hopefully strengthen it, but I guess we will wait to find out.
IE Krunk: There has been lots of talk about changing the config back to MR15, or keeping it put at MR12, what is your opinion on this matter?
Forever0: It better go back to mr15/800dollars. I was all for 16k in the beginning but it just sucks playing after awhile it’s not nearly as fun as old rules. Including with the old rules it will make the skill gap bigger and separate the people that practice and the people that don’t practice. Old rules overall takes more talent, and the players that are actually not talented but are considered talented right now, I believe they won’t be good players anymore once old rules come back. Just my personal opinion, CGS rules made a lot of bad players good.
*Note* The second interview was taken a few months after CGS closed its doors.
IE Krunk: In the previous interview I talked to you about teams that will be switching back to 1.6 from source. In the past several months we have seen many things such as coL to team EG, the JMC reformation, and the even surprising mOE to Make Shift Gaming. How do you think the transition for some these teams will work out, and who do you see being able to compete at a national stage?
Forever0: EG and JMC are probably the only newly formed teams that can compete, other than that I don’t see any new teams that would be able to compete. EG aka coL has proved they can transition just fine between both games so they shouldn’t have any problems and along with JMC recently going undefeated in the ESEA league it seems to be they had no problem transitioning back as well. No one cares about moE joining makeshift, still wondering how they actually got gotfrag to write up a article about them let alone two of them.
IE Krunk: The CAL league has recently decided to switch back to MR15 due to popular demand, and CEVO has not officially announced any word to switch back to the old config do you see CEVO switching any time soon?
Forever0: I’m pretty positive last time talked to a CEVO admin they said they would be switching back to mr15, so yes CEVO will probably switch back to mr15.
IE Krunk: How long will it take for teams to get the feel for MR15 once again, how do you expect the next few seasons will play out with this new change?
Forever0: It’s hard to say, the only changes I see happening is the teams that don’t practice are going to fall and the teams that do practice are going to prevail.
IE Krunk: CEVO-P has run into some rough waters with the breakup of so many teams participating. What effect do you think this will have on the remainder of the post season?
Forever0: Well with the breakup the Playoffs are going to be a lot Less competitive without coL and 3d, who would of made playoffs if not for CGS dying. There will still be competition between zomblerz, jmc, and cyberrev other than that the other playoff teams won’t have a chance.
IE Krunk: Do you have any current plans of what you will do for the upcoming seasons?
Forever0: Nope, no plans as of now, I am teamless but the game is kind of at a low point right now in terms of activeness.
IE Krunk: Thank you for participating in this interview.
