Ultimate Gaming Tour Released

COPENHAGEN, SWEDEN – Steelseries and Media Markt, in partnership with Intel, Intel, NETGEAR, Packard Bell, Kaspersky and Inferno Online announce their Ultimate Gaming Tour taking place in cities around Sweden.

Released only a few minutes ago, the Ultimate Gaming Tour is a unique winner takes all in-store tournament, offering 100.000 SEK – or about 13,000 USD – to the winner of a 1vs1 Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament, which includes qualifiers in fifteen different Media Markt stores in Sweden.   The map selected is a unique map entitled aim_UGT_2009, a custom-made version of the popular Counter-Strike 1.6 aim_map, featuring tweaks and optimizations designed to eliminate any advantages and disadvantages between the two sides. Optimizations include changes to spawn points, player models and pass-thru objects, all aimed to make the map fair and balanced.

UGT.se stated on their website:

Ultimate Gaming Tour is a 1vs1 competitive shootout tournament which focuses mainly on the individual skills of a player. This concept is far from new, but the prize money involved plus the fact that the tournament is open for anyone above 16 years of age is key to its evolution. The qualifiers will be spread out across Sweden making it readily available for almost all to compete without having to travel large distances - and spending loads of cash.

Today almost all electronic sports events are focused around team games, most stature given to winning the 5vs5 tournaments. The UGT aims at finding the best aimer out there, regardless of team level and previous merits and award him/her 100,000 SEK.”
