ESWC Announces Prize Pot

The new ESWC announces the prize pot for their 2010 event, taking place at Disneyland Paris at the end of June.

ESWC has given the prize breakdown for the 2010 Grand Finals.

The first thing that should be noted is that this year’s cash pot is much lower than their last event in 2008. The grand prize is $4,000 lower than the prize of 2008; $40,000 in 2008 has gone down to $36,000 in 2010.

The same is true for the second and third place prizes, second place going from $25,000 to becoming $18,000 in this event and the third place prize moving from $14,000 to $9,000.

However, these prize pots are still some of the highest in professional Counter Strike 1.6.

This comes across the board as well, with the Counter Strike Female event, with only the first place prize gaining $1,000 and the other two places losing $1000 and $1,500 dollars respectively.

Finally, the quake prizes have also dropped significantly, with first place going from a decent prize in 2008 at $12,000 going to $8,000 in 2010. Second and third place lost $2,000 and $3,000 dollars each as well.

It is unknown, but likely, that the top professional teams will again not attend this tournament.  The old owners of ESWC owe the G7 teams as well as other individuals thousands of dollars.
